Holiday escapade - Part 2

I was initially quite apprehensive about going to Lisbon as I heard someone tell me that it looked a lot like Malacca.. but having just come back from there, I can assure you, that it bears absolutely no resemblance to our good ol' Straits' state.. there wasn't any red paint on any building!
Anyway, we only spent like 2 days in Lisbon, and so obviously, didn't get to do too much touring.. it isn't as bad as it seems, cos' Lisbon isn't that big and there isn't as much to see as like, Barcelona or Paris, so we didn't miss out on much.

Ok, my favourite part: pictures!

This is the Monument to the Discoveries, which is, as the name suggests, is a monument dedicated to Portugal's significant role in travel, exploration and discovering different cities in the world!
.

And of course, Malacca was one of them!
.

The weather was gorgeous!

.

Praca do Comercio (Commerce Square), sits at the mouth of River Tagus and was historically considered to the entrance of the city since most people came here by boat..
.

.
The central monument in Praca do Comercio

.

.

The Torre de Belem (Tower of Belem in English), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it served as a fortress guarding the entrance to the city of Lisbon via the River Tagus
.

Inside the tower..
.

The triumphal Arch that leads to the main shopping street, Rua Augusta

.

The Santa Justa Elevator, an elevator that connects the Baixa (lower city) to Bairro Alto (upper city), a very historic-looking area of Lisbon
.

We visited the magnificent Castelo Sao Jorge, the Saint George's Castle, which sits atop a hill guarding the Tagus river..
.

:)
.

The view was absolutely breathtaking!
.

I wish I could tell you what architectural style this was..
.

More views!

.

Enjoying a yummy course of good ol' Portugese food!
